a force of 500 N on an object of 2 kg displaces it by 3 m. find the work done by the force and the objects final speed assuming it was initially at rest.

GIVEN:

F = 500 N

m = 2 kg

d = 3 m

FORMULA:

W = Fd

where:

W = Work, J, kg•m•m/s•s

F = Force, N, kg•m/s•s

d = distance, m

EQUATION:

W = Fd

F = ma

SOLUTION:

W = Fd

W = (500 N)(3 m)

W = (500 \frac{(kg)(m)}{ {s}^{2} })(3 m)

W = 1500 \frac{kg {m}^{2}}{ {s}^{2} }

W = 1500 J

ANSWER:

The work done by the force is 1500 J.

(NOTE: Im sorry. I do not how to get the final speed. I can only get the acceleration.)
